====== 2v3 (no dribble) to 3-on-2 to 2-on-1 ======
This video by **Coach Tony Miller** demonstrates a full-court continuous basketball transition drill designed to teach offensive numerical advantages and transition defense under pressure.
===== Drill Overview =====
**Goal:** Replace static drills (like the traditional 3-Man Weave) with realistic, game-like fast breaks and quick defensive rotations.
* **Focus Areas:** Fast-break spacing, ball movement, quick decision-making, defensive communication, and recovery conditioning.
1. **Phase 1: 2-on-3 Offense:** Initial Half-Court Setup.
**Setup:** Two offensive players attack the basket against three set defenders.
**Objective:** The 2-man offensive unit must make quick, sharp passes to collapse the 3 defenders and create a high-percentage shot or open perimeter jumper.
2. **Phase 2: 3-on-2 Fast Break:** Transition to the Opposite End.
**Trigger:** Upon a make, miss, or turnover, the **three original defenders** secure the ball and push it fast up the court in the opposite direction.
**Defense:** The **two initial offensive players** must sprint back on defense to form a tandem 2-man defense.
**Objective:** The 3-man team executes a classic 3-on-2 fast break, filling the lanes to force the defensive tandem to commit before finding the open shooter.
3. **Phase 3: 2-on-1 Fast Break:** Final High-Speed Transition.
**Trigger:** As soon as the 3-on-2 possession ends (shot taken or turnover), the **shooter/last player to touch the ball** sprints back to become the single defender.
**Offense:** The remaining **two defensive players** gain control of the ball and immediately attack the other end.
**Objective:** Execute a quick 2-on-1 break to score cleanly against the single trailing defender.
===== Key Coaching Points =====
- **Offense:** Push the tempo immediately; pass ahead rather than over-dribbling.
- **Defense:** The bottom defender protects the rim, while the top defender stops the ball and communicates coverage.
- **Conditioning:** Players transition directly from offense to defense without stopping, reinforcing rapid mental and physical recovery.
